Experiences....

We moved to our new apartment in May of 2008. This was a definite need for me because we were in a basement apartment, and I was just getting so claustrophobic in that basement and need to GET OUT!! I need windows, A/C for the summer, and wanted to get out of the "ghetto" (which really wasn't that bad) I just wanted to be closer to school, work etc, and also Internet and TV would be a plus. So we found this amazing apartment and moved. It has big windows, A/C, 2 bedrooms and a cute little breakfast nook (sp?), Internet and cable TV, we are in heaven! I love everything about and hope to stay there until we are done with school. Since we moved there we had to buy a washer and dryer, our second big purchase together, we decided to go with new ones since we would need them for the next couple of years. We got a great deal, took them home and when we tried the washer out....all the water was leaking from the bottom. The man that brought the washer down with the dolly had punctured a hole in it and we had to wait 2 weeks to get that prepared. So it was back and forth to my lovely sisters, using her washer and dryer. Finally we got it fixed and we though we were doing great! Well then the experiences began...

1st - we noticed this bump on our bathroom floor, it was getting harder to open and close the door, and getting kinda of mushy. So we had our landlord come check it out and we had moisture under there and had to have the whole floor replaced. This ended up being a 4 week process which included us not having a toilet for 2 days and 2 nights. We worked both days, but at nights we had to make quick trips to the church bathrooms, convenient stores, etc. We just had to work out times for us to come home and meet the worker people, because our landlord always couldn't. It was so difficult for me (being the girl), but thank goodness we made it through those 2 nights, and we just had a wood floor for a while. What an experience to have together...we just continued to smile through it all....only a few tears from me, but now we just look back and laugh on it. Luckily we didn't have to pay for it!
2 - Shortly there after, we had our washer broke again, I don't remember exactly what part was broken, but the water would spin out and so our clothes were always soaking. So it was back and forth to sisters again, and trying to get off work to meet the washer people to get it fixed. Not that big of deal, but all of it together, we just wanted to say COME ON...let us go to the bathroom with a real floor when we please and also wash our clothes when we please.

We are still very happily married, grateful for these experiences, have a greater appreciation for a toilet and a working washer, and have learned that renting right now is amazing because we don't want to deal with all household expenses just yet!
